Hello, My name is Tom Smith and I have been an A.S.A swimming instructor for the last three years.

Prior to this I did three years of work as an assistant teacher, learning a variety of skills and techniques from many different teachers. In my time as a teacher I have taught children of all ages as well as adults.

I greatly enjoy seeing my students progress, learning new things and becoming more confident in the water.I see swimming not only as a life skill, but also a fantastic way to keep fit, relax and unwind.

I look forward to teaching you, or your children soon!

“My thanks to Tom, who taught my daughter at King’s Hedges last week; She can now do a whole length of the big pool at Parkside, breaststroke and back stroke without her sinking too much, which she couldn’t do before. She was very pleased with herself! We look forward to seeing Tom again.”

“I am really pleased with how my son is getting on with his swimming lessons. He’s not a naturally confident child and tends to give up easily if he thinks he can’t do something… Tom has really helped my son learn that if he tries, and keeps trying, he can do things he’s unsure of. It feels as though he’s made a leap in his progress recently too which is lovely to watch! So, please pass on my thanks to Tom and I look forward to continuing lessons for as long as I can…”

“The location at Barrow is great, always really warm and the perfect depth for children that aren’t confident with deep water. In regards to the instructor Tom, I have got to say that he is absolutely amazing with my daughter. She was very nervous in the water but after only three lessons she is now swimming on her own; back and front (with a flotation aid). Tom is patient, calm and reassuring and we couldn’t ask for a better person to teach our daughter. We are really pleased that we have chosen Elite Swimming Academy.”
