A beautifully maintained 12m x 5m pool set within the private grounds of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge.

Tucked away in a secluded college setting with private on site parking for our families, this venue offers a uniquely calm and refined atmosphere. The surroundings feel discreet and peaceful, reflecting the character of the college itself.

During our sessions a dedicated lane is allocated for ESA, allowing focused, structured swimming within a well managed environment. The tranquil setting supports controlled technical development and confident progression, making this one of our most distinctive Cambridge venues.

Facilities

  • There is newly-renovated secure changing in both male and female changing rooms.
  • Baby changing facilities are provided at Clare Hall.
  • Clare Hall pool is set in a scenic location in the centre of Cambridge, making it an extremely popular pool.

Parking & Where to Go

  • Free parking spaces are just by the entrance to the West Court area, on the right hand side – However, spaces cannot be guaranteed, so we recommend turning up a little early if possible to make sure you can find alternatives. Parking is not restricted for ESA customers during lesson times.
  • Once you have entered the West Court Area, go straight up the path and turn left at the end to the swimming pool. Please use the main wooden doors which open into a corridor to gain entry. A map of the site can be viewed here.

School Holiday Intensive Swimming Courses

Intensive five day courses during school holidays, providing daily focused lessons outside of term time to fast track progress in just one week.
Lesson details
  • As the facility is shared with residents and fellows of Clare Hall, we need to be respectful to other users at all times.
  • Only one adult from each family is allowed on poolside to watch lessons, to avoid overcrowding.
  • Any smaller children and babies that are not being taught must be kept under your control and not be allowed to leave your side.
  • Once you are in on poolside, please remove any outdoor footwear or put on overshoes provided. Buggies are not allowed on poolside to ensure good hygiene.
  • Please use the bins provided for used hand towels and general waste only. Please do not use the bins for soiled nappies, sanitary towels or clinical waste of any kind. These items must be taken off site by you.
  • No students are allowed into the pool outside of designated lesson times. Please do not get in early. When lessons have finished please get changed in the changing rooms (or on poolside) and leave quietly so as not to disrupt the next class or other users.
  • There is strictly no food allowed on poolside to protect our floors and cleanliness standards.
  • Please do not let your children and families run around the swimming pool or changing rooms once in the facility. Children must stay with you at all times, especially in the case of siblings during the lessons. Please do not let them run around outside either as cars will be coming and going and the surrounding areas are privately owned.
  • We take no responsibility for our students, their siblings, or families outside of the actual swimming pool and designated lesson time. It is your responsibility to make sure that your children (and families) obey the pool rules at all times and do not cause danger to themselves or others outside of your lesson tim
